| Does anyone know of a lawyer or legal connection for a American Indian Marine who needs a lawyer to file an appellate review for him before Jan 27 when he is released from the Marines. He is in California. He is under threat of INS deporting him to Canada, the son of an American Indian woman in the US. He is a marine with 4 medals and the Review will be in Washington DC. I don't know the circumstances of his release or anything else about the situation. Hit me up if you have any suggestions. Thank you! |

Rex Friend, one of our local peace activists, specializes in immigration law. His number is 555 1277.
I am surprised that an American Indian tribe isn't stepping up to the plate to help. Have you tried his tribe or Kaylynn Free? |

| I don't get it. If he is U.S. born or born anywhere in the world of a U.S.-born person he is a United States Citizen, and he cannot be deported except under conviction of treason or if he personally renounced his citizenship. WTF does Canada have to do with any of this? |

American Indians living in Canada are naturalized if they get an honorable discharge from a branch of the US military. Some of us are wondering if this is just an end around the citizenship.
I'm sorry to have limited knowledge of this, the family doesn't want to divulge all the details. Which is fine when in a predicament with legal implications like this.
Yes thought of Rex, who has helped me on too many occasions to count, so didn't want to call on him without others leading me to that avenue.
Thanks all...any more comments? mvto, B |
